Properties: Reflections from the Science Lab is a collection of short essays on science, education and human thought by an experienced science and humanities educator living and working in Australia. Partly autobiographical, historical, humorous and thoughtful, these essays use the properties of matter as metaphors to explore some of the wider connections between our search to understand the very substance of our world and what it means to be human beings composed of that very substance. They shed light on the world of the science classroom as a place where the inanimate confronts the mind of the learner and where both are shown to be richer when viewed together.
