A Prophet in His Own Country by Alastair Robson
Henry Lilley Smith (1788-1859) was born and bred in Southam, Warwickshire. After an apprenticeship to a surgeon-apothecary, he attended Guys Hospital (where he was a surgical dresser to the distinguished Guys surgeon Sir Astley Cooper).
Alastair Robson was born in London and read medicine at Trinity College Dublin. He is married with a son and daughter and was in general practice in Warwickshire for over thirty years.
