Since proverbial metaphors are verbal images, it is no surprise that artists translate these images into various art forms, including woodcuts, misericordes, engravings, emblems, paintings, caricatures, cartoons, comic strips, posters, and graffiti. This international and annotated bibliography contains 378 entries that summarize the impressive scholarship on the interrelationship of iconography and paremiology.
