Psychology of Sustainability by Robert G Jones

Psychology of Sustainability: An Applied Perspective examines the many psychological factors that lead to human behavioral effects on the environment. Each chapter will apply elements from a basic research area into the context of criteria specific to sustainability. Increased interest has led many universities to offer courses on "Psychology of Sustainability." This book is the perfect text to provide an introduction to the subject. Throughout the book, readers will find new ways of framing questions related to human adaptability and evolutionary psychology. Psychology of Sustainability is ideal for students or professionals who are looking to contribute to the conversation.

“In this brilliantly structured textbook, Robert Jones delves into the aspects of human psychology that underlie contemporary issues in sustainabilityHe couples his passion for improving the human condition with a deep understanding of the psyche, asking the crucial question: How can psychology help us understand and adapt to a rapidly changing world?  I commend this text as an excellent introduction to the field of environmental psychology.”—Neal Ashkanasy, Professor of Management, University of Queensland, Australia

“This is a big book written in an easily accessible style, suitable for both psychology students and others with an interest in the field. A wonderful resource packed with up-to-date research on the major theories in psychology, all applied to the vexing question of how we can create a more sustainable society.”—Niki Harré, author of Psychology for a Better World: Strategies to Inspire Sustainability, and Associate Professor of Psychology, University of Auckland, New Zealand
