
Daniel Gilbert is a Harvard University professor of psychology and the director of the Social Cognition and Emotion Lab. In the disciplines of affective forecasting and the fundamental attribution error, he is widely regarded as the world's foremost authority. He is the editor of The Handbook of Social Psychology and has produced numerous scholarly articles and chapters, as well as several short works of fiction. He has received the American Psychological Association's Outstanding Scientific Prize for an Early Career Contribution to Psychology, fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the American Philosophical Society, and is a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Research in the Behavioral Sciences. Gilbert was named one of the fifty most prominent social psychologists of the decade by Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin in 2002, and one of his research papers was named one of four modern masterpieces in social psychology by the editors of Psychological Inquiry in 2003.
