Public Speaking in easy steps by Drew Provan
Public speaking is feared by most of us. The prospect of standing up and addressing friends, colleagues or international audiences fills most of us with the feeling of dread. Most fears about public speaking are needless and unfounded. Public Speaking in easy steps will take you through the various stages of speech-making, from the initial invitation, to planning the speech so that the underlying message is crystal clear, using props or computer audiovisual equipment for projection of slides or overheads, planning of the day and establishing yourself as a composed and assured speaker which will help boost confidence but may also help your career. Eventually you will reach the point where you will enjoy the occasions. But this is a craft that must be learned, and we will show you how confidence in public speaking can be attained.Drew Provan, Honorary Reader in Autoimmune Haematology, Barts & The London School of Medicine & Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London, UK Dr Provan is currently Honorary Reader in Autoimmune Haematology at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. He studied molecular genetics at Leicester University before studying medicine. After junior medical posts in the UK, I undertook research at The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute from 1993-4 on an American Traveling fellowship awarded by the Medical Research Council.
