Anna Politkovskaya, a special correspondent for Novaya gazeta, has been awarded by Amnesty International and Index on Censorship. She received Russia's coveted Golden Pen Award in 2000 for her coverage of the Chechen war, and the Civic Courage Prize in 2005.
