
The English-born writer, anthropologist, and archaeologist Jacquetta Hawkes (1910-1996) was best known for her documentation of the magnificent British Isles in A Land. She studied archeology at Newnham College and traveled to many areas, including Palestine and other regions of England, on archeology expeditions. A Woman as Great as the World, Journey Down a Rainbow, The First Great Civilizations: Life in Mesopotamia, and A Search for Love are among her other works.
