Debbie Young lives and writes in a small Gloucestershire village, which inspires and informs her novels, which are set in a rural Cotswolds environment and are full of mystery, mayhem, and humour. Sophie Sayers Village Mysteries (novels), Staffroom at St Bride's - School Shops for Adults (novels), and Tales from Wendlebury Barrow (fast reads of novelette or novella length) are her three established series. Secrets at St Bride's, one of her novels, was shortlisted for the Bookbrunch Selfies Awards for best independently published fiction in the UK in 2020.
