Michelle Hoover is the Fannie Hurst Writer-in-Residence at Brandeis University, as well as a professor at GrubStreet, where she directs the Novel Incubator program. She is a 2014 NEA Fellow, as well as a Bucknell University Writer-in-Residence, a MacDowell Fellow, and the winner of the PEN/New England Discovery Award. The Quickening, her debut novel, was named a Massachusetts Book Award Must Read in 2010. She was born in Iowa and now resides in Boston.
