The Shabby Chic aesthetic was created by Rachel Ashwell. She started the Shabby Chic home furnishing boutiques in 1989, followed by the Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic Couture stores later that year. Amy NeuNsinger is a photographer whose work has appeared in several periodicals and advertising campaigns ranging from beauty to travel. She is the author of Shabby Chic, Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic Treasure Hunting and Decorating Guide, The Shabby Chic House, and Shabby Chic: The Gift of Giving.
