Radio with Pictures by Brendan Horgan
Before television people eagerly gathered round the radio for their favourite programs and to hear the latest news. In the early days television was called 'radio with pictures' by those in the industry. Back then no one had any idea how much television would impact on Australian lives. Radio with Pictures tells the story of the first 50 years of Australian television in a unique and fascinating way, not as a bland history book but often through the eyes and in the words of the people who created that craft from the ground up.
Brendan Horgan's work as a media historian began after a career in banking and finance and later as a freelance writer and producer. He was a founder of the 'Once Upon A Wireless Project', an oral history of Australian radio which recorded oral history interviews on tape with 350 people who began the Australian radio industry in the 1920s and 1930s.
