Holtzman, Tony: - Tony (Neil A.) Holtzman started to write fiction after retiring as Emeritus Professor of Pediatrics, Health Policy, and Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins. His novels are based on professional experience, and deep interest in American history. The Adirondack Mountains, where he still summers after many years, also serve as inspiration. Tony's fictiony writing has benefited from workshops and courses at Stanford University, New Mexico State University, The Great Courses, and the Adirondack Center for Writing, of which he was a board member (2015-18). He has taught writing to prisoners at the Adirondack Correctional Facility and currently leads a writers group in Menlo Park, CA, where he winters. While at Hopkins, he wrote or co-wrote three books on genetics and public policy, and published over 150 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals. He has four children and eight grandchildren.
