A Railway ABC is a behind-the-scenes look at the workings of the railroad. Townend's endearing lithograph illustrations - in both colour and monochrome - are accompanied by a gently humorous and whimsical text that will captivate children and adults alike.
Jack townend (1918 - 2005) studied at the Slade School of Fine Art and later taught at the Ruskin School of Art where he tutored, among others, Shirley Hughes. In 1948 Townend was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
