
Railway Cat's Secret by Phyllis Arkle
Alfie, the railway cat, decides to keep out of the grumpy stationmaster's way for a bit. He discovers an unused station further down the track and meets Joe, who is looking after it. One day a train stops by mistake and when the princess and her children get out, they have great fun with Alfie.
Phyllis Arke was born and educated in Chester. In 1959 she moved to the Thames Valley village of Twyford in Berkshire, where she wrote the Railway Cat amongst many other books for children. She died in 1997.
