Raising Sparks by Ariel Kahn
Raising Sparks is a magical-realist love story set in Modern Israel where shared histories unravel in a story that reveals the hidden worlds behind the headlines.
Ariel Kahn was born in 1973. He lives in London with his wife and two children. He studied at Clare College, Cambridge. He is a senior lecturer in Creative Writing at Roehampton University. Ariel was also a driving force in the Arab Israeli Book Club, which he set up together with Palestinian novelist Samir El Youssef. The club was dedicated to building bridges, and creating a space for empathy and shared stories. The club was widely covered in the national and international press. Raising Sparks grew out of these experiences. Ariel has won the Bloomsbury New Voices competition in 2002, the London Writing Competition in 2006, and come runner-up in the national Pulp Idol Fiction competition in 2017. RAISING SPARKS is his debut novel.
