Rare Poultry Breeds by David Scrivener
Rare Poultry Breeds covers virtually every rare breed that is likely to be encountered by poultry fanciers. It provides a detailed reference guide to the rarest, most obscure and, in a few cases, even extinct breeds of chickens and bantams that are often not mentioned in poultry books. One of the main reasons why fanciers keep particular breeds is that they wish to have 'a small piece of history' running around their garden. Accordingly, this book has a strong hsitorical content.
David Scrivener has had a lifelong fascination with the amazing range of shapes, sizes and colours of traditional poultry breeds as well as the breeders who created them. He gained a National Diploma in Poultry [NDP] at Harper Adams Agricultural College, Shropshire, is a 'Panel A' poultry judge, and is the Chairman of the Rare Poultry Society. He is author of the highly acclaimed Exhibition Poultry Keeping [Crowood 2005]. Resident: Northamptonshire
