Anne Hammick has sailed offshore for over 20 years. Since her first Atlantic crossing in 1975, she has completed a further seven Atlantic passages, six as skipper/navigator. Gavin McLaren was a Royal Naval officer for 20 years specialising in navigation. He then became a sail training instructor and now concentrates on freelance writing and yacht deliveries. John Lawson has spent most of his life at sea and cruised extensively in his own boats. He is the author of a number of RCC Pilotage Foundation titles.
