She currently teaches and consults in schools and districts across the country, demonstrating and leading workshops. She continues to speak to educators around the country and around the world. She writes in an enthusiastic, conversational, practical, and honest tone based on her daily classroom experiences. Literacy at the Crossroads: Critical Conversation About Reading, Writing, and Other Educational Dilemmas (Heinemann, 1996) is her most recent work.
This book was created to clarify concerns, offer specific solutions, and provide urgency for taking action to make a genuine impact in our schools as calls for a return to basic education have gotten louder. Conversations: Techniques for Teaching, Learning, and Assessing, her most recent work, will be published by Heinemann in autumn 1999.
