The Reason for Christchurch is a bilingual English and Te Reo Maori sing-a-long book for preschoolers. This song is written by Loopy Tunes, who are a sister duo based in Christchurch that run live, interactive music and movement sessions for preschoolers and their caregivers. This is the third book in their Rainbow Children's Book Collection.

The vision for Loopy Tunes has always been to provide a space that offers musical sessions as an affordable option for families within a local community. Their music sessions have tamariki dancing and singing along to some of their original waiata, as well as some well-known tunes, including Pēpi Mako (Baby Shark in te reo Māori).

Loopy Tunes are excited to bring you the fourth instalment of the Rainbow Children's Book Collection, Ko te Pūtake mō te Kirihimete/The Reason for Christmas. This has been a collaborative effort with Christchurch artist and illustrator, Rosina Cater.

Williams-Lemi, Siu: - Siu is one part of Loopy Tunes Preschool Music, a sister duo based in Christchurch that run live, interactive music and movement sessions for preschoolers and their caregivers. The vision for Loopy Tunes has always been to provide a space that offers these sessions as an affordable option for families within a local community. We currently run eight weekly outreach music sessions in Christchurch, visit many Preschools/Playgroups and perform at local children's events and functions.. Our music sessions have tamariki dancing and singing along to some of our original waiata, as well as some well-known tunes, including our Pēpi Mako song (Baby Shark in te reo Māori). We released our first music album, Kākāriki: Simply Us, in June 2019, and our first children's book E Rima Ngā Manu/Five Little Birds in October of the same year. We are yet again, excited, to bring you the second instalment of our Rainbow Children's Book Collection, Te Waiata Koa/The Happy Song. This has been a collaborative effort with Christchurch artist and illustrator, Rosina Cater - SOO many thank you's, for bringing yet another of our songs to life, so magically! Thank you also to Therese Fisher of KingFisher Publishing, Urupikia Minhinnick, for our beautifully translated Māori lyrics, and Imelda Morgan for setting the book up so creatively. We are so blessed to have these wāhine toa backing this project of ours - truly!!
