Jesobel Jones is bold and beautiful. The daughter of a hand model and a washed-up rock star, she sees no need to apologise for her rambling house, her imperfect family, her single status... or her weight. Jess makes her own cupcakes and she eats them, too. That is, until own clothes day rolls around. Jess and her friends dedicate the required hours of planning to their outfits. But a wardrobe malfunction leaves Jess exposed, and a mean girl calling her the one thing that's never bothered her before: fat.
Anna Mainwaring read 'The Lord of the Rings' when she was seven and hasn't stopped reading since.
After studying English Literature she spent a brief time as a banker before realising this was a bad choice for someone who can't even write down a phone number correctly.
Anna has taught English for some years now, for most part in a girls' school. Overhearing girls' conversations and concerns about the pressures that face them gave her the idea of the character of Jesobel Jones in Rebel with A Cupcake.
Her first book with Firefly Press, TULIP TAYLOR, was published in June 2019.
Anna lives in Cheshire with her family and a very dangerous goldfish. When not teaching, writing or not doing the laundry, she can be found walking up hills looking for inspiration.
