She co-founded a community forestry NGO, served as Executive Director of the Virginia Urban Forest Council, and was instrumental in the formation of the Virginia Natural Resources Leadership Institute and the Virginia Food System Council. She appreciates the soothing energy of gardening and cooking with produce from her garden at home. She is the author of Recovering Our Food and The Gardener's A-Z Guide to Raising Organic Food, and she lives in Virginia.
