Red Scarf Girl: A Memoir of the Cultural Revolution by Ji Li Jiang

In 1966, twelve-year-old Ji-li Jiang was bright, popular, and had a promising future. But that year Mao Ze-dong launched the Cultural Revolution, and Ji-li's world began to fall apart. This stunning memoir of one family's courage and determination during one of the most terrifying eras of the twentieth century is now available in a new paperback edition.

She founded East West Exchange in 1992 to encourage cultural interchange between Western countries and China.
