Audean Smith Mitchell (1909-1999) was born in Tennessee's Hamilton County and married young in Alabama. She spent the remainder of her life there. Bruce Mitchell was born in Alabama's DeKalb County and has lived in Georgia for the past forty years. He began writing to his mother when he relocated to Cali, Colombia as a young man, and he continued to write to her for the rest of her life.
