Remembering Charlie by Jerry Epstein

"Remembering Charlie" is the life story of Charlie Chaplin, told by one of his friends and illustrated with many previously unpublished photographs from the private collections of the author and Chaplin's wife Oona. Charlie Chaplin made his first stage appearance at the age of five and from then on his professional career went from strength to strength. He spent six years in Fred Karno's touring company and then joined the film company Keystone, appearing in 35 films in the first year, many of which he also wrote and directed. There he created his most universally well-known and loved character, the Tramp. Epstein collaborated with Chaplin in the theatre and on his last three films. He is a theatre director, film producer and screenplay writer. In this book he shares a wealth of unique anecdotes about Chaplin. Geoff Brown is the author and editor of a number of books about the British cinema and writes film reviews for the "Radio Times" and "The Times".
