Dr. Laura Shwaluk is the founder and Director of the North Texas Center for Health and Fitness in Plano, Texas. She has a Bachelors of Science in Cellular, Molecular and Microbial biology from the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada, a Doctorate in Chiropractic from Parker University and her post-graduate education is in Applied Kinesiology, Functional Nutrition and Functional Endocrinology. She is also licensed by the Pastoral Medical Association. These specialties have helped her to create comprehensive Optimized Health Programs. Dr. Laura Shwaluk started as a chiropractor, and really got interested in Type 2 Diabetes when patient after patient kept bringing in blood test results asking for help interpreting what was going on inside them. They were determined to NOT take medication. So she literally put in thousands of hours studying the science behind the numbers - Functional Nutrition, Functional Endocrinology, Applied Kinesiology, and more. The more she studied, the more one thing became clear: more people struggled with Type 2 Diabetes (and its horrendous side effects) than any other disease she saw.
