Reviewery by Christopher Ricks
"Reviewery" collects in one volume 50 pieces by a writer whom many regard as our greatest literary critic. Ricks writes compellingly about novelists (Waugh, Joyce and Henry James), about poets (Larkin and Eliot), about filmmakers (Kubrick and Coppola), sociologists (Goffman and McLuhan), photographers (Capa) and music makers. The result is an account of the cultural landscape of the 20th century.
Christopher Ricks is a Professor of the Humanities at Boston University and the codirector of the Editorial Institute. He was formerly Prof. of English at the universities of Bristol and Cambridge. He has published books on Milton, Tennyson, Keats, T.S.Eliot, and Beckett, and edited the standard edn of Tennyson. He lives in Boston and Gloucestershire.
