RHS Desk Diary 2017 by Royal Horticultural Society
The RHS Diary 2017 showcases the work of Caroline Maria Applebee (c.1799-1854) held in the RHS's world famous Lindley Library. Very little is known about Miss Applebee. It is believed she was a talented amateur artist whose works were unpublished. Her paintings (323 in total in the Lindley Library) feature a large range of plants, including the more rare and exotic varieties of the day, which would only survive under glass. This week-to-view diary is illustrated in colour throughout. The Royal Horticultural Society was founded in 1804 and has established itself as the UK's leading gardening charity, with the aim of inspiring passion and excellence in the science, art and practice of horticulture. The world-famous RHS Lindley Library holds unique collections of early printed books on gardening, botanical art and photographs.
