
The Rice Paper Diaries by Francesca Rhydderch
Hong Kong, 1940. This lyrical debut novel tells the tale of British bride Elsa, her husband Tommy Jones and daughter Mari as war engulfs the island.
Francesca Rhydderch was born in Aberystwyth. Following completion of a PhD on Virginia Woolf and Kate Roberts in 1998, Francesca took up the post of Editorial Assistant at Planet: The Welsh Internationalist, and became Associate Editor of the magazine in 1999. In 2002 she was appointed Editor of New Welsh Review. Francesca is now focusing on her freelance career as a literary editor and her own creative work. Francesca has been commissioned to write a Welsh-language play, Cyfaill, for Theatr Bara Caws, which will be staged at the National Eisteddfod of Wales in Denbigh in August 2013. The Rice Paper Diaries is her first novel.
