Judy Richter enjoys gardening. She began spending more time in her garden after she retired from her job as a nursing professor at the University of Northern Colorado. Richter graduated from Colorado State University's certified gardener program. She has a wide range of gardening experience in the American West, including xeriscaping. Richter is involved in her Greeley, Colorado community.

She assists in the planning of the Greeley Garden Tour and writes to the accompanying booklet. Richter's work has also appeared in Greeley's Best of magazine.
