Jimmy Armfield made his debut for Blackpool in 1954. Combining along the right flank with Stanley Matthews, they were the Gary Neville and David Beckham of their era. Jimmy Armfield played his entire career at Blackpool, making a record 568 league appearances for the club as a full back between 1954 and 1971, and won 43 caps for England, 15 as captain. He moved into management, taking Leeds United to the 1975 European Cup final, before becoming a columnist for the DAILY EXPRESS and a pundit for BBC Radio. He was awarded the OBE in 2000.
