Robert Frost by Richard Poirier
The work of American poet Robert Frost (1874-1963) aspired to be accessible and colloquial. Instead of looking to Europe for inspiration, as did some of his contemoraries, Frost aimed to develop an authentic voice, with the rhythms and vocabulary of everyday American speech.Richard Poirier was an American literary critic who lived from 1925 to 2009. He was the chairman of the board of the Library of America, which he co-founded. He was the Marius Bewley Professor of American and English Literature at Rutgers University, as well as the editor of Raritan and Partisan Review.
