Rockabye by Patricia Mccarthy
In these wonderful poems, telling stories of the abuse of women long before the outcries of the current scandals, Patricia McCarthy ranges across cultures and religions, poetry, art and music, to dramatize the particulars of female lives she has known, both tragic and heroic.
Patricia McCarthy was born in Cornwall, and brought up mainly in Ireland. After studying at Trinity College, Dublin, she lived in Washington D.C., Paris, Bangladesh, Nepal and Mexico. She now lives in East Sussex, where she taught for fifteen years at a famous girls' school. Her work has won prizes and been widely anthologised. Her recent collections include Rodin's Shadow (Clutag Press/Agenda Editions, 2012), Around the Mulberry Bush (Waterloo Press, 2013) and Horses Between Our Legs (Agenda Editions, 2014).
