Rodney Walshaw graduated with a geology degree from Nottingham University, and obtained his doctorate at the Institute of African Geology in Leeds, England. He worked as a geologist for the British Geological Survey, advising government bodies around the world. He is the former geoscience editor of the publications Earthwise and Earthworks and editor of the international geoscience journal Episodes.
