Rosemary Webb taught for ten years in infant, primary and middle schools. From 1989-1991 she was Professional Officer for Primary Education at the National Curriculum Council. She left there to become a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Manchester, returning in 1993 to the Department of Educational Studies at the University of York, where she had previously been a Lecturer from 1985 to 1989. She is currently the Chair of the Association for the Study of Primary Education (ASPE). Graham Vulliamy is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Educational Studies at the University of York, where he has taught since 1972. This is Rosemary and Graham's second joint book; their first, Teacher Research and Special Educational Needs (David Fulton) won the TES/ NASEN Annual Book Award in 1993. They are currently working with Finnish researchers on a comparative research project on curriculum change in primary schools in England and Finland.
