Towards the end of his tenure as High Commissioner to Australia, Sir Roger Carrick, his wife and his regular driver embarked on a trip around Australia in the ambassadorial Roller. The official purpose was to say goodbye to all the people he had met and worked with during his time in Australia. His personal aim was to see some of the "real" Australia. British diplomat Sir Roger Carrick has served in Europe, the USA and the Far East. He was High Commissioner in Australia from 1994-1997, years of political change in both Australia and the UK and, when many believed links were declining, a time of real growth in economic, social, cultural and political relations.
