His first book, Your Face Here: British Cult Movies Since the 1960s was a critical success, entering the BBC's Top Ten Books of the Year for 2001. In addition to curating a month-long season of 1960s films at the National Film Theatre in 2003, Wells serves on the committee to establish a memorial garden in honour of George Harrison. He lives in Sussex, England.
