Before joining the Royal Engineers in 1939, Ronald Searle (1920-2011) studied for two years at Cambridge College of Arts and Technology (now Anglia Ruskin University). During his incarceration as a prisoner of war in Singapore and Thailand from 1942 until 1945, he cartooned. Searle's most well-known comics series, which ran from 1948 to 1959 and featured juvenile delinquent schoolgirls at the fictional school St.
