Button, Jennifer Mary Carlotta: - Born in London in 1945, Jennifer was raised in London and Brighton. She has been writing novels for ten years. Her work explores relationships, the trauma of guilt and the need for forgiveness and retribution. She prefers to refer to herself as a woman who writes rather than as an author, being a story teller at heart. Her tales are character driven, often leaving the reader feeling the protagonist has become a familiar friend by the tie they have finished the book. Most of her work is informed by her own life, but she allows her characters to dictate the plot, This gives each book a fresh, organic feel, and can at times lead her to places she never intended to visit. Her latest book, Rose Remembered, begins in 1905 and carries through until 1955, with a short postscript from 1965. It began life as a play, and although several characters may still be recognisable, their lives have been expanded and some take quite a different path. in this, as in her other work the serious, often poignant topics are punctuated with touches of comedy making her books an enjoyable mixture of light and dark.
