Rosebuds by Margaret Mayhew

A novel of lifelong friendship, in the tradition of Rosamunde Pilcher
Flora and Tally first meet as schoolgirls in 1947. Theirs is an unlikely friendship, born of the fact that both girls are outsiders. Flora's mother is a war widow, struggling to make ends meet, whilst Tally is really rich but lonely Lady Atalanta Ashby. On leaving school the two girls share a flat in London, and their friendship is cemented during exhilarating years of independence and self-discovery.
Mayhew, Margaret: - Margaret Mayhew was born in London, and her earliest childhood memories were of the London Blitz. She began writing in her mid-thirties and had her first novel published in 1976. She is married to American aviation author Philip Kaplan and lives on the borders of Wales. Her previous novels include Bluebirds, The Crew, The Little Ship, Our Yanks, The Pathfinder, Those in Peril, and I'll Be Seeing You.
