The Royal Horticultural Society Address Book by Brent Elliott
The RHS diary and address book for 2008 are illustrated with colour prints from three great nineteenth century multi-volume anthologies of rare and unusual plants from around the world: Ludwig Reichenbach's "Icones Florae Germanicae", Nathaniel Wallich's "Plantae Asiaticae Rariores" and Alexis Jordan and Julio Fourreau's "Icones ad floram Europae". The anthologies are from the RHS Lindley Library, acknowledged as the world's finest horticultural library. Each week features a full-page colour illustration and the diary includes the dates of all the RHS Flower Shows as well as national and religious holidays and astronomical information.
Dr Brent Elliott is librarian and archivist to The Royal Horticultural Society and author of numerous articles and books, including the recently published Flora: an illustrated history of the garden flower (Scriptum-Cartago, 2001). He has written introductions and captions to the RHS diaries since 1993 and provided the illuminating text for The Royal Horticultural Society Book of Days, The Language of Flowers.
