The Royal Horticultural Society Treasury of Trees by Charles Elliot
An anthology that brings together poetry and prose from a range of writers, from the Roman natural historian Pliny and the Chinese poet Po Chu-I, to Sir Walter Scott and Robert Fortune, to twentieth-century poets such as Seamus Heaney. It is suitable for lovers of literature, gardening and nature.
"'People care about treesMore than most plants, they have the power to touch our emotions, cheering us, calming us, sometimes even frightening us, especially when they crowd together in forests. Life would be very strange and barren indeed without them.' Charles Elliott, from his introduction."
