An absorbing, powerful and uplifting story * Booktrust *
It is hugely to Davies’s credit that she makes these characters live such vibrant lives in the minds of her young readers. . The action in the narrative is unflagging and fast-paced. The language is convincing . . . I would like to see this book adopted as a primary class text -- Rebecca Butler * Armadillo Magazine *
Heartwarming . . . so far removed from anything children here would experience and gives so much to think and talk about, as well as being a page-turning story to boot * The School Librarian *
