The RYA Book of Diesel Engines by Tim Bartlett
Based on the RYA's Diesel Engine Course, this text explains how a diesel engine works and how to look after it. This second edition is revised to take into account developments in engine technology since the first edition was published, and contains a new section on how to winterise an engine. It is written in a non-technical language to appeal to all, and is aimed at boat-owners rather than mechanics. Hints, tips and faultfinding tables are included.
Tim Bartlett began sailing as a child on the Thames near his parents' home. After teaching sailing in commercial sailing schools he became a full time yacht skipper at the Island Cruising Club. After 5 years running his own engineering company in Cornwall he became technical editor of Motor Boat and Yachting.
