Maria Akhanji is a British Bangladeshi Muslim writer. She has completed her BA (Hons) in Child Development. She wrote her debut novel, 'Salt and Pepper: Unearthing Taboos' due to the lack of accurate representation of the taboo issues embedded in this ethnic minority. She is currently editing the second volume in the Salt and Pepper trilogy, titled, 'BrideMaids'. She developed her writing on youwriteon.com and both her books were featured in the Top Ten Chart on that website. Her books explore issues such as child molestation, Asian in-laws, family politics and the double standards that often overshadow Asian culture. Her books centre on the trials and tribulations of British Asian/Muslim women; however, her writing could give a male audience a quintessential insight into a realm that is commonly experienced yet often left unexplored.
