Sam Who Was Swallowed by a Shark by Phyllis Root
A tale about a river rat who fulfils a dream of going to sea. Sam, the river rat, dreams of going to sea. It's his heart's desire. Day and night, whatever he's doing, his thoughts turn seawards. His neighbours tell him to think of practical matters like fixing his fence and getting his garden in order. But Sam decides to build his own boat. "I want to hear the wind filling my sails and the waves rolling under my paws," he says. His neighbours are sceptical. "You'll be swallowed by a shark," they warn. By spring the boat, named "The Rat's Paw", is ready and Sam sets out - and that's the last anyone sees of him. His neighbours fear the worst but one day a passing seagull drops a note that reads, "Dear friends, please do not worry. I am happy. Love, Sam." And far away, over the water, Sam smiles and sails on over the wild green waves, following his dream. Axel Scheffler is the illustrator of "You're a Hero, Daley B!"| SKU | Unavailable |
