SAVING SINBAD by Michael Foreman
A dramatic storm turns an ordinary working day for an ordinary working dog into one of excitement, near tragedy and heroics. In Michael Foreman's evocative and gripping tale of a rescue at sea, builders, an artist, the barber, a barman, a bridegroom and a dog perform an extraordinarily courageous feat. But it's all in a day's work in this busy Cornish village.
Michael Foreman was born in Suffolk in 1938. He went to Lowestoft School of Art and later to the Royal College of Art, where he won a scholarship to the USA. He is the award-winning illustrator of over 170 books and has written over 20. His own books include War and Peas and Ben's Baby. He has twice won the Kate Greenaway Medal, most recently for the autobiographical War Boy. Michael has illustrated books by Oscar Wilde, Roald Dahl and Rudyard Kipling. In 1984 he won the Children's Book Award with Terry Jones for their book The Saga of Eric the Viking. Michael is married with three children, and divides his time between London and St Ives.
