Scar on the Stone by Chris Agee
The first anthology of Bosnian poetry in English to have appeared since the outbreak of war and genocide following the independence of Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1992. It brings together fourteen of the country's most distinguished poets, chosen on the basis of artistic merit alone, but drawn from all creeds - Muslim, Orthodox, Catholic - and none.
Chris Agee is the Irish correspondent of Oslobodenje, Sarajevo’s independent daily, and teaches American Studies at the Open University in Ireland. A former editor of Poetry Ireland Review, he edited a recent Irish issue of Poetry (Chicago). His collection In the New Hampshire Woods was shortlisted for the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Prize. Born in San Francisco and educated at Harvard, he now lives in Belfast. Since 2007, he has worked full-time as Editor of Irish Pages: A Journal of Contemporary Writing, Ireland’s premier literary journal (which he founded in 2002), as well as in a freelance literary capacity, including as a reviewer for The Irish Times. Between 2013 and 2015, he was the Keith Wright Literary Fellow at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, where he remains as a Visiting Scholar in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
