Scarlets - The Official History by Alun Gibbard

Llanelli is one of the most famous rugby towns in the world and, as such, is the focal point for one of the most passionately supported rugby clubs, the Scarlets. This beautiful book documents the rich and unrivaled rugby heritage of the club, from its first game in 1876 through to the present day, offering a comprehensive history of the club and its place at the heart of the local community. Backed by the club itself, this is the first official history of the Scarlets to be published in more than 30 years.
Alun started with BBC News in Cardiff where he was a reporter and producer for nine years, before moving to work on a current affairs programme with HTV. His last job in TV was as a presenter on a daily live magazine programme on S4C. Since beginning his writing career in 2008, Alun has published 21 books to date. His 2012 book, ‘Who Beat the All Blacks?’ was shortlisted for the British Sports Book Awards 2013. He has written two books with Howard Marks and co-written four biographies of prominent Welsh people, the text for a photography book and eight books in the Welsh Language version of the Quick Reads initiative. He contributes weekly to Welsh language magazine Golwg, and he was Chair of the Panel of Judges in the Welsh Book of the Year 2013. Alun contributes regularly to TV and Radio programmes in Wales in both languages and has written two productions for theatre based on the life and work of Dylan Thomas as well as a video documentary of the poet’s life.
