Scenes from Comus by Geoffrey Hill
SCENES FROM COMUS is the new sequence of poems from Britain's most original and ferocious modern prophet, Geoffrey Hill. In the words of Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury, 'Hill remains for me the supreme voice of the last few decades ... The recent work, telegraphic, angry and unconsoled, at once assertive and self-dispossessing, is extraordinary'
Geoffrey Hill is the author of ten books of poetry, including The Triumph of Love, co-winner of the Heinemann Award. His Collected Poems, Canaan, The Triumph of Love, Speech! Speech!, and The Orchards of Syon are all published by Penguin. He currently lives and teaches in Massachusetts, where he is Professor of Literature and Religion at Boston University. He is also Honorary Fellow of Keble College, Oxford; Honorary Fellow of Emmanuel College, Cambridge; Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature; and since 1996 Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
